Medical Services and First Aid Training updates: CPR, AED, and first aid techniques

By: The CTS Team   •

We've overhauled our Medical Services and First Aid Training subject to bring you the most updated medical recommendations for first aid.

Whether in the sky or on the ground, injuries and illnesses are a fact of life. It is likely that everyone, at some point, will require some degree of first aid. Flight, cabin, and ground crews, as well as maintenance personnel, should be adequately prepared to perform life-saving first aid should the need arise. In response to updated guidance on CPR techniques and AED use, CTS performed an overhaul of our Medical Services and First Aid Training course.

Medical Services and First Aid Training is a comprehensive course featuring seven tutorial modules and six text-based lessons. The tutorials are fully animated, and provide in-depth information on the basics of providing first aid, obtaining consent to treat, life-threatening conditions, common injuries and illnesses, and CPR and AED use.

Our CPR training is centered around the latest recommendations from the American Heart Association, and focuses on use of the C-A-B method of resuscitation: Compressions, Airway, Breathing. New, animated graphics have been designed to supplement the information and provide a clear visual for the student, especially on techniques requiring physical handling of a patient.

The text-based lessons serve as a knowledge test for CPR and AED use, as well as give further information on other aspects of first aid, such as wound and burn care, poisons, bites, stings, and serious illnesses. The training module is capped by a 30-question exam that can be adjusted as desired to fit the needs of your organization.

The Medical Services and First Aid Training subject is now available and has replaced the previous subject of the same name for all users. It is specifically designed to meet OSHA standards under 29 CFR 1910.266 for first aid and CPR training. If you have already completed the older version of the training for the year, you can view the new version through the main training menu. Otherwise, you will use the new Medical Services and First Aid Training subject when you take the training next year.
